SAVE GAME

This string saves the game: the 11 starting rack tiles, front to back, including the ?, followed by the 35 upcoming tiles in order (the last group starts with a ?). Import it to play the same game again from the beginning. COPY STRING AND PLAYS also includes your plays and the best score found, if any.

HOW TO PLAY

Score as many points as you can by playing words from your rack. Each word scores the square of its length: 3 letters = 9, 4 = 16, 5 = 25, 6 = 36, and so on, up to 121 for an 11-letter word.

You start with 11 tiles on your rack, and the next 35 tiles are shown in order above it, in 7 groups of five. The first tile on your starting rack is a ?, which can stand for any letter, and the last group starts with a second ? to help you set up a long final word. You don't need to say which letter: a word with the ? in it counts if any letter in its place makes a valid word, and it scores the full length of the word. Type ? to pick it, or type a letter you don't have and the ? is used for it. Tap tiles (or type) to spell a word, then press PLAY WORD. Tap a selected tile again to remove it from your word.

After each play, the next 5 tiles arrive at the front of the rack and push the remaining letters toward the back. The rack holds 11 tiles. Any letters pushed past the back fall off and are lost. Tiles that would fall off this turn are shaded a little darker. They return to normal once your word uses enough letters to keep them on the rack.

When you type, the game uses the copy of a letter nearest the back. That's usually what you want, since it's the next to fall off. You can tap a different copy instead.

If you can't or don't want to play, PASS scores nothing but still brings in the next 5 tiles. Once all 35 upcoming tiles have arrived, you get one final word, and then the game is over. The game also ends if no word can be made from that final rack, or when you press END GAME.

Score guide: 100 = GOOD · 150 = TARGET · 200 = GREAT · 250 = SUPER.

UNDO LAST PLAY takes back your most recent play or pass. RESTART starts the same game again from the beginning.

FIND BEST SCORE shows the best score the computer could find, and the plays that make it. Searching starts only when you press the button and runs for up to 5 seconds. It then stops and shows the highest score found during that search. Tap any turn to see that turn's rack, with the letters of its word highlighted. It isn't guaranteed to be the best possible score. BACK TO GAME returns to your game.

DAILY GAME shows the game for your local date, shared by everyone on that date. SAVE GAME gives a 46-character string for the game, and IMPORT GAME plays a saved string. COPY FOR POSTING copies your score and the length of each word you played, with 0 for a pass.
